{ Venice }

I remember the first time I visited this magical city.

I was 11, my dad had passed away a few months earlier, but one thing he wanted my mom to do was to go back home and take us with her.

See my mother is Italian, well Sardinian.. but I’m not going to confuse you with all that…

And was born and raised in Italy… This is her home now… but Italy will always be her “real” home.

My dad knew  that she longed to be home and made sure she went after he passed.

It was a good trip for us.. It was beyond a difficult time and Italy was just what we needed.

It was on that trip to Italy, in that beautiful, magical city that I knew I wanted to be a photographer.

I think I went through 30 rolls of film in just that city. ( sorry mom )

Fast Forward 13 years.  I totally had the travel bug. I wanted to go back and take my husband ( who had never been out of the country.lol) and my daughter to meet my family, and visit this wonderful country.

Well EVERYONE knows my story. That dang Icelandic Volcano erupted and canceled our trip 13 hours before we were supposed to leave.

Okay jump to June 2011. FINALLY, We were on our way to bella Italia.

As you know from the past Italy post, my camera was left in Roma. So all of Venice was shot with. wait for it. disposable cameras. Talk about a challenge. I did hunt down a few camera stores while I was there but as suspected they were on like 4 hour lunch breaks.

So here’s a little piece of my favorite city in the world

35mm/ disposable cameras ( still makes me laugh )

Ps. For those going to Venice… I found the greatest hotel especially if you have kiddos.

The staff was amazing, the rooms were great.

The hotel is not far from the train station. Either hop on a boat or taxi ( nicer boat) and it’s about 5 minutes from the train station steps.  One of my favorite parts about Hotel Olimpia was the garden, yes garden. Venice is such a small compact city, and I mean compact!!! So to be able to come back from a day of exploring and relax in their private garden, or wake up and look out the window and see the garden was so refreshing.  I could seriously go on and on about this place. It was by far my favorite hotel.

If anyone has any Italy/travel related questions feel free to ask.

Around the Colosseum

This is my second time visiting the Colosseum, but Timmy and Lola’s first.

I have to be honest. I’m not a huge fan of Rome. It’s very very busy city.

But the history in Rome is unreal and unbelievably fascinating.

Just stepping foot inside the Colosseum is exciting but at the same time frightening, considering it’s history.

It is obviously a must see if you are visiting Italy.

So here are a few of my favorite photos around the area.

{ Valentine’s Day }

 Before I met my husband, I never actually had a Valentine on Valentine’s day.

It is such a fun and special day celebrating love.

I’m a ham… I just love Valentine’s day.

As a little girl my dad wanted me to know exactly how I should be treated.

Every Valentines day the ladies ( my sister, mom and I) were woken up by my dad with a card and a rose.

When I started dating my now husband I made sure he knew that story.

I got lucky… his momma raised him right, and he didn’t have to be told twice.

So in honor of this very special day… I’m feeling very giddy and blessed.

I’ve decided to give a FREE Engagement session to the first THREE couples who book a wedding with us

this month.

So spread the word darlings

And Happy Valentine’s Day

We do still have a few openings for 2012. This is for any 2012 or 2013 couple
